Any of you played or played many MMOs? Ive kind of drifted between a few like WoW, Star Trek Online, Star Wars Knights of the Republic, DC Universe Online and am currently trying the Guild Wars trial along with considering getting Guild Wars 2. I always seem to like the idea of MMOs but find they never keep my interest long enough to make them worthwhile. The one I would really like to try and get into is still EVE Online with its just crazy stories you hear. Unfortunately the time it takes to really get into it plus the monthly fee just puts me off too much. |

I would have liked to try Elder Scrolls Online when it's out but the need to pay for a subscription puts me right off. It really isn't the way to do MMOs now.
I'm just happy replaying Guild Wars 1 with new and old characters to be honest (bought eight more character slots recently for my main account). The sequel was a huge disappointment, and I usually tire of other MMOs after a couple of weeks.

Oh yeah I forgot about Elder Scrolls Online. I'm the same as you, I probably would have given that a try if the subscription wasnt there. Same reason why I wont be carrying on with FFXIV after the beta ends. |

I havent done too much yet, I'm only level 2 and have just got my first animal as a Ranger.

I think I went with Elementalist when I made my first ranger, to use the Conjure Flame enchantment with a fiery bow. It doesn't matter much in the early stages of the game though and Ranger is a pretty much self serving profession anyway. You can change secondary professions later on when your character ascends but you won't get that far on the trial and I don't think you can carry on with your trial character in the full game (which is a bit dumb).

I think it depends on how much you want to get into the game. Looking on Steam, Trilogy plus Eye of the North will get you everything. Or you can buy one or more of the campaigns separately - Prophecies (Guild Wars Game of the Year Edition), Factions or Nightfall. Eye of the North can expand any and all of the three campaigns. If you get more than one campaign and/or the expansion just make sure you activate everything on the same account and then characters you make can use all of the content.

Forgot to mention, each campaign has different selections of professions on offer. You can choose from the six core ones in Prophecies (Ranger, Mesmer, Elementalist, Monk, Warrior and Necromancer), the core professions plus Assassin and Ritualist in Factions, and the six core professions plus Dervish and Paragon in Nightfall.
