Final Fantasy Games

Square Enix has registered a trademark for Shinra in Japan.

The Shinra Electric Power Company served as one of Final Fantasy VII's primary antagonists.

Square intends the property "for use in video games", according to Siliconera.

Ostensibly a power company in the 1997 RPG classic, Shinra used its monopoly on Mako energy to fund research into genetic engineering and space travel, as well as maintaining the military SOLDIER project.

Final Fantasy series producer Yoshinori Kitase recently played down the likelihood of a remake of the game.

Final Fantasy VII was released on Steam in July 2013.

Square Enix most recently released Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
